Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU) is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education, and a member of China's “211 Project” and the “Double First-Class” Construction Initiative.

Established in 1896 as the Imperial Chinese Railway College in Shanhaiguan, SWJTU is China's first engineering education higher institution and the birthplace of Chinese civil engineering, mining engineering and transportation engineering higher education.
